Field Internship Opportunity

We’re on the lookout for great students who are interested in technical or trade focused positions, based out of various field locations across the U.S. The Field Intern’s responsibilities will be dependent on their team and work location.  Some of the duties may include and are not limited to:

  • Work with senior field technicians to carry out:
    • Remote pipeline ROW locates and crossings
    • Meter station maintenance and upgrade projects
    • Replacement of signage at company assets as assigned
  • Working with/observing Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls technician (EI&C), Measurement technicians, and pipeline technicians to gain knowledge of how the pipeline industry operates; This includes learning about line location and other field operations work
  • Operate hand tools in a safe manner and completing assignments accurately and with a great level of attention to detail;
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures and regulatory requirements;
  • General facility maintenance including up keep of the property (lawn care, painting fences), shop and office
  • Other tasks as required.



  • Must be enrolled in an accredited degree or certificate program in a related discipline/industry (i.e. Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering and/or Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC), Mechanic, Telecom, Welding, Gas Energy, Corrosion, Maintenance, etc.) and have completed at least one year of courses;
  • Must be returning to school for at least one semester following your work term;
  • Exhibit a safety mindset, in a professional and personal setting;
  • Must exhibit the TransCanada Corporate Values and incorporate them into work activities and initiatives: Safety, Responsibility, Integrity and Collaboration;
  • Legally entitled to work in the U.S. by way of U.S. Citizen, Permanent Residency or a valid work permit.


*This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license;
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing;
  • Be available for overtime, extended work hours, and call-outs as needed;
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
  • Must be able to work outdoors which may include extreme weather conditions (i.e. heat, full sun, wind, rain, etc.)
