General Information

TransCanada's Canada Gas Operations (CGO) department is seeking an individual who possess an unyielding commitment to the safety, integrity and reliability of our assets while maximizing their competitiveness to join our team. As a member of the Business Management team, you will be responsible for collection, validation, analysis, and communication of financial and project-related information to support the CGO department Capital and Operating Programs. Your work scope will include use of financial and project systems and tools to ensure accurate data entry, decision summaries quality control, analysis, and preparation of cost and project performance reports of the assigned portfolio. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure capital and operating budgets and project-related analyses and reports are complete, reliable, and prepared on-time;
  • Update and maintain accurate project information in the Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) and Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) systems;
  • Consolidate and communicate budgets and forecast information to stakeholders;
  • Monitor, reconcile, and analyze detailed and summary reporting of monthly projects and portfolio cost forecasts and other project performance indicators;
  • Prepare and deliver financial business review reports and presentations;
  • Perform quality assurance review of business case and project decision documents to ensure compliance with required policies, processes, and practices;
  • Identify opportunities for improving reporting and analysis of financial data, budget-related tools and practices, and support for CGO teams;
  • Work with other cost analysis and accounting groups to align with budget, forecasting, and reporting policies, processes, and practices;
  • Other tasks as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of cost management, accounting systems and processes, and project management processes, experience with TransCanada’s processes is considered an asset;
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, cash flow, allocations, forecasting practices, and related cost management processes;
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to consolidate, report and analyze information accurately;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Ability to communicate effectively to various audiences (verbal and written);
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines;
  • Strong personal initiative, ability to deliver high quality results, and desire for continuous improvement.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business/Commerce, or Economics;
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience;
  • Experience with capital and/or operating projects and budgets is preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level) is highly desired;
  • Experience working with SAP – Project System module, PPM, and BPC is considered an asset.
