General Information
This position is responsible for several aspects of counterparty risk reporting for TransCanada, its wholly-owned subsidiaries, and certain equity investments, and it enables the individual to become knowledgeable about and participate in most of TransCanada’s businesses throughout their life cycle.  This position reports to the Manager, Counterparty Reporting.


This position will assist in the preparation, maintenance and regular reporting of Transcanada's counterparty exposures and specific duties will include:
• Conducting analysis of counterparty exposures in various reports for internal stakeholders and committee members;
• Communicating internally and responding to requests for information from internal stakeholders and other members within the  Risk Management team;
• Reviewing counterparties to ensure compliance with internal policies and ensuring analysis is provided in a timely basis to various stakeholders;
• Assisting in the daily maintenance of all counterparty risk systems;
• Assisting in the management of SAP customer master data maintenance;
• Preparing for and testing system enhancements related to the counterparty risk systems;
• Assisting in the ongoing maintenance of financial assurances;
• Participating in the analysis and assessment of  counterparty financial statement review, which includes researching, obtaining and reviewing counterparty financial and other information, and recommending/approving counterparty exposure limits;
• Recommending and participating in projects to improve processes;
• Participating in activities regarding counterparty bankruptcies / insolvencies;
• Other tasks as required.


Qualifications and Education/Experience Qualifications:
• Strong analytical skills to ensure accuracy in all counterparty reporting needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation skills, in dealing with internal and external parties;
• Excellent attention to detail to facilitate accurate reporting;
• Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with others in a team environment;
• Self-motivated, independent and able to resolve issues with supervision;
• Demonstrated flexibility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

• Bachelor of Commerce or business-related degree is required;
• Two or more years of experience in counterparty risk and/or the energy industry; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
• Enrollment/progress in a professional financial designation or post-graduate degree is considered an asset;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
• Previous experience in SAP would be considered an asset.
