Reporting to the Maple and Niagara Area Manager, this position provides technical skills to ensure all compressor control systems and equipment are effectively maintained and safely operated in accordance with our strict standards of performance, policies and procedures. This position will also support maintenance and troubleshooting of gas measurement equipment.
 
This position is overtime eligible and will be part of an on-call rotating schedule and provide emergency support, as required. The regular work schedule for this position will be:
• Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday 8 hours / day
• Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)
 
Please note that hours of work may need to be extended as business needs arise.
The successful candidates will have to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve overnight stays away from home.

 

*This position is eligible for domestic relocation assistance, but is not eligible for cross-border relocation assistance.
 
Responsibilities
• Perform Routine Maintenance Tasks, Required at Gas Transportation Compression Facilities, Measurement Facilities, and Remote Valve Facilities;
• Perform Troubleshooting Tasks, on equipment such as Gas Turbine PLC Controls, MCC’s (Motor Control Centers), Automated Valves, and Computer Networks, to name a few;
• Perform New Project Installations, by performing Contractor Technical Inspections, while adhering to all provincial and Federal Permits and Code requirements;
• After hour Emergency Response will be required to maintain Facility Reliability, and Availability, along with mitigation of impeded customer markets, while maintaining public safety;
• Being a competent, companionate team player is essential in this role, while working with a diverse group of trades and contractors;
• Being a Geographically diverse organization requires traveling and working safely, with some time away from home, as required;
• Cross training and support of non-control related tasks maybe necessary for mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, public land owners and relations;
• Perform Gas Measurement maintenance and troubleshooting on turbine and ultrasonic flow meters, ancillary systems;
• Perform Rectifier, Mechanical and Pipeline work as required;
• Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs;
• Oversee the safe and efficient completion of projects;
• Oversight of contractors;
• Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TransCanada's safety, health, environment and risk standards;
• Procure resources and manage within budgets for the facilities;
• Provide support to our business partners, as required;
• Other tasks as required.
 
Qualifications and Education
Qualifications:

• Proven ability to work safely and effectively with minimal supervision or within in a team environment;
• Strong PLC, Controls and instrumentation background;
• Possesses excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills;
• Competent in the use of test equipment applicable to the maintenance of control systems;
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills;
• Proven ability to work effectively alone and in a team environment;
• Experience in high and medium voltage applications an asset;
• Experience working with SCADA systems would be considered an asset.
 
Education/Experience
• Must be fully certified as an Industrial Electrician (442A), Electronic Engineering Technician or Technologist;
• Preference will be given to candidates who possess multiple certifications;
• Experienced with the interpretation of technical reference documents;
• SAP experience an asset.
