General Information

 

Reporting to the Director, U.S. Human Resources this key leadership role is based in Houston, Texas and is accountable for the leadership of the TransCanada U.S. Gas Operations (USGO) HR Consulting team. This individual will play a key role partnering with the USGO senior leaders to enable the successful delivery of business results.

 

This role will provide leadership and operational oversight of the USGO Human Resources Consulting team. In alignment with our HR service delivery model, the individual collaborates with the Centers of Excellence and Shared Services teams to provide excellent support and strategic services to USGO Leaders and employees.  

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Foster a culture of safety throughout the operational footprint of TransCanada USGO operating assets;
  • Provide day to day leadership, coaching and direction to the USGO HR Consulting team to efficiently and effectively support the business;
  • In partnership with senior leadership ensure:
    • Successful implementation and adoption of corporate HR programs;
    • Ensure team and organizational effectiveness solutions/initiatives are fit for purpose and address business unit performance objectives;
    • Oversees compliance with people-related legal and regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions;
    • Direct the HR team by providing COE program updates, share business unit performance, lead legal and employee relations matters, ensure HR deliverables are met within program guidelines and timelines;
    • Endorse effective and efficient processes and resources are available to support business needs;
    • Commitment to appropriate resourcing and structure to enable to US business units to meet strategic deliverables;
  • Determine strategic client priorities and collaborate with key stakeholders to design/deliver required solutions to meet business needs;
  • Collaborate as active participate and contributor of the US Gas HR leadership team;
  • Ensure the USGO HR Consulting team is equipped and well positioned to meet the evolving needs of our business

  • Collaborative, strategic partnering skills/organizational development skills;
  • Superior problem solving and solutioning skills;
  • Excellent ability to prioritize and organizational skills;
  • Experience leading significant change efforts across a large business unit;
  • High-quality written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership as well as larger groups;
  • Engagement and partnering with HR Centers of Excellence and Shared Services teams to develop fit for purpose business solutions;
  • Aptitude to bring the ‘outside in’ perspective to the business unit and HR partners;
  • Adaptable and flexible approach;
  • Comfortable with working in ambiguity.

     

Education

  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience including extensive leadership experience;
  • Business Communications or Bachelor of Business Admin preferably within the field of Human Resources;
  • MBA or Masters preferred;
  • Professional certification in human resources;
  • Experience leading within the energy related vertical is preferable.

 

*Travel to other company locations for HR assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.

 

*This position will require travel across borders and as such the candidate must be able to provide applicable documentation to this affect.
