We’re on the lookout for great students who are interested in Indigenous Relations, Community Outreach or Communications roles, in our Omaha, NE office.

 

General Information

 

The successful candidate will take day-to-day direction from the IR Team Lead, U.S. based in the Omaha Office.  This position will assist in the implementation of the IR US Team’s Engagement Plan, focusing on advancing the communications goals and objectives to enhance the Team’s outreach to Tribal Nations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the IR Keystone XL /US team to implement to support delivery of the IR engagement and business engagement plans;
  • Monitor and report on activities being reported in Tribal newspapers, online, etc. within the key Indigenous communities;
  • Participate in discussions as to improve our ability to engage with the Indigenous youth through various Education and Training activities;
  • Collaborate with the Communications on the development of talking points, communications materials for outreach to Native American and youth audiences;
  • Assisting Leads with project notifications as required;
  • Ensuring documents provided to Indigenous communities noted in the engagement logs are organized and accessible;
  • Providing support in preparing reports, presentations and project documentation and/or updates;
  • Coordinate logistics, event planning and meeting preparation.

 

Experience /Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled at a recognized college or university as an active student;
  • Preference will be given to 2nd or 3rd year students enrolled in a communication, community outreach or public relations degree program;
  • Understanding of communications media with a strong knowledge of social media;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily /weekly tasks to meet deliverable timelines;
  • Customer service experience is a plus;
  • Team player.
