General Information
Reporting to the Regional Director, this position is responsible for ensuring that Field Operations and Engineering's Asset Management System is effectively implemented in the region and ensuring that all projects implemented by the region are planned and executed according to TransCanada's Project Delivery Standard (PDS).


*This position is eligible for domestic relocation assistance, but is not eligible for cross-border relocation assistance.

 

Responsibilities

 

As a Manager of Regional Asset Reliability (RAR) you will be required to:
• Lead and develop a strong Project Management and Maintenance Engineering team;
• Oversee the Regional System Improvement (SI) budget while incorporating maintenance, equipment performance, and commercial information to help develop specific Facility and Equipment Management Plans;
• Influence and oversee the regional capital spending program;
• Initiate, support, and champion process or other improvements that increase efficiency, safety, cost savings, or revenue generation;
• Recommend modifications to projects, plans, policies, procedures and performance standards to maintain Operationally Excellent standards and effectively manage the integrity of facilities;
• Provide support to field trades people to manage, escalate and resolve technical issues;
• Adapt to changing circumstances quickly and
• Work with and support other Regional Engineering and Asset Reliability Managers across Canada Gas Operations to leverage learning opportunities and apply best practices.

 

As a Leader in Field Operations, you will be required to:
• Build a strong, competent, proactive and engaged team;
• Be responsible for staff development and succession planning for your team;
• Provide team members with effective mentoring, feedback and coaching with appropriate rewards and recognition;
• Continue to develop your leadership competencies while maintaining a current knowledge of company business, strategy, goals and objectives;
• Manage and coordinate emergency response with a requirement to be on call and, to respond to emergency situations.
• Travel to various field and office locations across the region to meet with team members and other field staff.

 

As a member of the Regional Leadership Team, you will be required to:
• Work collaboratively to establish the Region's strategy, goals and business plan;
• Commit to the execution of the Region's business plan;
• Represent TransCanada and foster critical partnerships both internally and externally;
• Be a champion of change initiatives;
• Participate in CGO initiatives and manage issues when required.

 

Qualifications and Education
Qualifications:
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills;
• Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills and networking ability;
• Strong project management skills;
• Ability to apply business principles to identify, justify and implement solutions;
• Demonstrated skills in aligning goals with strategic direction and achieve targeted business results;
• Ability to apply economic and commercial drivers to analysis and operational decisions;
• Ability to apply engineering principles to make decisions based on risk and cost/benefit assessments;
• Ability to create and sustain critical partnerships and working relationships;
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills with diverse work groups;
• Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a changing environment;

 

Education/Experience:
• University Degree in Engineering or Technologist certificate/diploma with 10 or more years of related experience OR;
• Other relevant combination education and experience;
• Professional Project Management designation is an asset;
• Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance and Engineering principles is an asset;
• Experience in energy infrastructure operations and maintenance is an asset.

 

*This position requires candidates to:
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license;
• Provide a driver's abstract for review;
• Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including alcohol and drug testing;
